I’m working in the archdiocesan archives today, researching parish histories for a 2010 calendar. I find it fascinating to learn all these histories and inspiring to see the faith of our forebears.
Now I know why there is a Shrine to St. Rita in Lowell, for instance. It used to be St. Columba parish, but in 1924 a crippled boy was healed during a public novena to St. Rita and it became a place of pilgrimage. I’ve also stumbled on a history of my own parish, St. Joseph in Holbrook. Not only do I learn about my parish. Bit also my hometown. I love this stuff.Posted via email from Domenico’s posterous
