In a few minutes, I’ll be heading for a special dinner tonight at The International, a private country club with one of the best golf courses in the country. I’ve been invited to attend a special cigar dinner sponsored by Ashton cigars, Bombay Sapphire gin, and Turi vodka.
My friend Paul went last year when it was sponsored by Dewars Scotch and La Aroma de Cuba cigars. He said the food was great, the cigars were superb, and the drinks sublime. I’m looking forward to it. Because it’s such an exclusive club, I’ll be rubbing elbows with the movers and shakers. Little do they know that the hoi polloi like me are sneaking in.
And how do I get to go to this event you ask? Paul’s brother-in-law is a member of the club. It pays to know people. I’ll come back with good stories.
Mmmm, I can taste it all now.
They pretty much have to be held in private clubs now.
the down side, 200 guys in a function room, each smoking 2-3 cigars in the course of 4 hours leaves you and your suit smelling pretty bad
Funny you should say that. On the way home we stopped at the dry cleaners to drop off our suits.
