Save me, Nomah!

Save me, Nomah!

Only in Boston. Former Boston Red Sox shortstop and current Boston resident Nomar Garciaparra saved two women who fell in Boston Harbor outside his apartment. He and his uncle, Victor, were in his condo and heard a scream and a splash. As they rushed outside they saw the second woman fall in and hit her head.

Victor Garciaparra jumped from the balcony to the water 20 feet below.

“I swam towards them and by the time I reached them, Nomar was already there holding the girls up,” he told the newspaper. “But he couldn’t get them up without help.”

One woman had a large lump on her head and appeared to be unconscious, he said. When she came to, the first thing she said was: “Are you Nomar?” Victor Garciaparra said.

Actually what she said probably sounded more like, “Are you, Nomah?”

The whole thing sounds weird. How did they fall in the water? Why did the second one fall in? Where did their husbands come from and why did they whisk them away?

Like I said, only in Boston.
