Push for Priestesses

Heterodox groups are using the Scandal as an excuse to push for priestesses.

Prompted in part by priest shortages, scandals, and an aging pope, some area Catholics are stepping up pressure on church leaders to allow women to become priests. The Detroit area chapter of Call to Action, a national Roman Catholic reform group that began in Detroit in 1976, is planning several protests for the spring as a follow-up to rallies last year.

Push all you want, but it isn’t going to happen. The male-only priesthood is a part of the unchanging deposit of the faith. Read the document, the followup from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and a theologian’s conclusion that it is an ex cathedra definition.

Case closed.
