Optical illusion

Optical illusion

Here’s a neat illustration of an optical illusion. It’s amazing how the mind compensates and interprets what the eye sends it as raw data.

the above site has a whole host of optical illusions, categorized by their types … one similar to the one Dom cites is found under the Luminance & Contrast category – called Constrast Constancy.  It helped me to just move my eyes back ‘n forth between the center of the two blocks here – and sure enough, the shadings become equal to the eye (the trick being in what shade variations surround each).  These are really interesting – and Dom’s example is one of the best I’ve seen.
