Melanie’s procedure is today

Melanie’s procedure is today

Update: Everything went well. The doctor said he didn't see anything unusual, but we'll still wait a few days for the test results. Melanie feels well and Isabella is doing okay now that she's back with her Momma. I was afraid she wouldn't get a morning nap, but she fell asleep in the car on the way home from the hospital so we kept driving, going to Chandler Hovey Park in Marblehead, which overlooks the ocean. Now we're home and everything is better again.

Melanie goes in for her procedure this morning to confirm the results of the last test that indeed she does not have cancer.

For those joining us late: Melanie had a miscarriage at 11 weeks in mid-February. The pathology indicated uterine cancer. The doctor did a biopsy which came back negative for cancer. They scheduled a full D&C and hysteroscopy for Friday, April 13, to double-check the biopsy results.

We’re fairly confident that indeed she does not have cancer. The doctor said it is extremely unlikely for a pregnant woman to develop uterine cancer since in fact pregnancy hormones prevent cancerous growth. Still, you can’t be 100 percent sure.

If you think of it, please say a prayer for her and also for Isabella. It’s a day surgery, but Melanie will be out of commission and won’t be able to take care of Isabella at least for the day. It’s going to be a tough day for the 11-month-old who doesn’t understand why Mommy can’t take care of her.

Thank you all for all the prayers in the past couple of months. They have truly sustained us.

We should have the results in 5 to 7 days.

  • Please be assured of my prayers for Melanie’s continued health. May the Lord bless and keep her. May He make His face shine upon her and give her peace.

Nothing makes this easy. Even though it seems likely that all will be well, it is a very difficult time for all of you. God be with you—before you and behind you; above you and below you; to your right and your left. God be your shield.

  • Dom, my prayers will be with Melanie today and with you and Isabella. I will ask Our Lady to keep you all under her mantle of love.

    God bless
    Sharon

  • You all have been in my thoughts and prayers and I will continue to pray that this test comes back negative.  God Bless your family.
(BTW, Isabella is a cutie!  I can’t believe she is this big already. smile I hope the day passes quickly for her & she doesn’t miss Mommy too much).

  • I will remember her and all the family at office and Mass today.  God’s graces upon you during this difficult time.

  • Keeping Melanie and family in prayer today.  I’ve been following her story and praying.

  • I missed Mass today while I was hunting down my mis-placed tax docs:( But I will include M in our Divine Mercy petitions. Praying for a joyful outcome for all of you!

  • Praise God for what seems to be good news … I know you won’t fully rest until the final results are in. We’ll keep praying here.

  • Dom:

I am on my way soon to my regular Friday, 2pm Eucharistic Adoration at St. John Brebeuf’s special EA chapel here in Niles, Il.  I will pray for Melanie, Isabella, and you.

  • Thanks for the update—continued prayers until we hear the good news that we are all expecting!!!

    WHEW !!!!!

  • Just saw your post and I’m so happy you are getting encouraging news.  Will be even happier for you when you get the all clear.

The waiting and anticipating is more difficult to deal with than the confirmed results, no matter which way they turn out.  Either way, God knows what He is doing, and trusting Him is always the best plan of action.

God be with you while you wait.
