Amy has tagged me with the “Four Things” meme. (Meme is a funny word.) Here goes:

Four Jobs I’ve Had
1. Assembler of juice dispensers
2. Customer service at a Christian bookstore and church supply company
3. Water meter reader for Canton, Mass. (summer job after senior year in high school; boring but at least I was outdoors)
4. Editor of Catholic World Report magazine

Four Movies I Watch Over and Over Again
1. Lord of the Rings
2. Master and Commander
3. Tommy Boy
4. Monty Python’s Holy Grail

  • Holy Grail?? Yeck!!!

My sense of humor is as well developed as anyone’s and I was a Python fan back in the early ‘70s. But the life and ministry of Jesus is not fit material for satire, imho, and I tuned out on Cleese, Chapman et al., when they made this dreck.

    Some things are sacred.

  • My apologies Dom!!!

I was confusing “Holy Grail” with “Life of Brian”.

    Mea culpa, mea culpa…………

I guess I should be glad he didn’t go for BEVERLY HILLS NINJA. (Hey … remember that scene where Chris Farley tries to do something like a ninja, only he can’t on account he is a big fat white guy. Remember. That was awesome.)

Besides, everybody knows that PORKY’S is the creme de la creme of dumb guy-comedy.

  • JenB,

Being a word nerd I looked up “meme” in the Shorter OED and discovered that it is a custom or behavior that is passed from one individual to another. A word coined in the late 20th century I might add. I wonder if the next edition of the OED will mention the particular usage of the term by bloggers.
