Now that the ongoing cover up in the Altoona-Johnstown, Penn., diocese has been exposed men who have been abused by protected priests are coming forward to file lawsuits. There may not be a one-to-one connection between the lawsuits and the revelations that Bishop Adamec has silenced priests on the pain of excommunication, but it does show that cover up doesn’t work and that it is better to do the right thing in the first place.
