Healer bishop?

A New York Times article reports on a cadre of US bishops they call “healer bishops” who have been sent into diocese where the previous bishop had left a mess.

They start with Archbishop Harry Flynn who was sent to Louisiana in the 80s when the first major clergy sex abuse scandal broke. Others make the list, too. But why in the world did they include Robert Lynch of St. Petersburg? Does anyone at the times remeber the allegations made against him? Ah, but those were by adult men, not children so that’s different.

Oh, and he’s the late Cardinal Bernardin’s protege so that makes a difference, too. By the way, Lynch is the bishop who banned perpetual adoration of the Eucharist because it would distract from the Real Presence at the Mass, or some such thing.
