You’d think that people in the Boston area had never seen snow. Every year, it seems people forget how to deal with, especially in relation to their cars. Im mainly talking about the people who seem to be constitutionally incapable of clearing the snow from their cars. They range from people who clear spot on the windshield and a spot on the rear window to see forward and back and then drive like that. In addition to not being able to see where they’re going, there is the added danger to the other cars around them of big, sometimes icy, chunks flying off the car onto their windshields. Nothing like a flying iceberg to give you a heart attack, block your view, and send you careening out of control.
Then there are the folks who clean off the windows and maybe their roofs, but leave their headlights, brake lights, and turn signals covered in snow. There’s a reason why this stuff is called “safety equipment.” If you don’t use them (or I can’t see them), I don’t know what your intentions are. Once again, “CRASH”.
And while covered license plates aren’t a safety issue, it’s still stupid. Doesn’t anyone realize that driving with your license plate covered is a ticketable offense? That’s a dumb reason to see your insurance get surcharged; because you couldn’t be bothered to take a second before getting in your car to clean it off.

I couldn’t agree more, Dom! As I do a lot of driving I see that all the time. The other night a car was coming towards me and the windshield was completely covered in ice – no attempt to clear it. I don’t know how the driver could see anything.
The ‘snow on the roof’ is another pet peeve of mine. Where do people think it is going to go? It will end up on your back window or on the windshield of the unfortunate person driving behind you.
Another pet peeve of mine is snowplows which are plowing overpasses and pushing snow down on the the road below.
A few years ago my daughter got a smashed windshield from snow/ice hitting it from an overpass – which Dad ended up paying for, of course..

GOR, I can’t say I’ve ever heard of the snow-on-the-overpass thing ever happening. But then I live in Michigan. Here, we can get ticketted for having ice and snow on the windshield, but almost nobody is so idiotic as to drive around that way. There are a lot of accidents on the first snow day in November or December and the idiots all get tickets. By this time of year, we’re all pretty much into the routine and managing fine. Our biggest problems are when we get a lot of snow overnight and trucks slide off, stopping up traffic.
You think that you have it bad, here it is January and my AC stopped working!
