According to Catholic World News, the beatification of Pope John Paul II will proceed along the usual track, despite the initial accommodation of waving the usual five-year waiting period. It seems to be an answer to those who are calling for Pope Benedict to make a spontaneous declaration of sainthood, i.e. “Santo Subito!”
There’s no reason not to take our time and do it right. If his holiness and sanctity are evident now then they’ll be evident in the years to come.
